The cumulative
production data for April-December 2009 shows production growth of 20.12 percent
over same period last year.
Domestic Sales
Passenger
Vehicles segment during April-December 2009 grew at 23.80 percent over same
period last year. Passenger Cars grew by 23.79 percent, Utility Vehicles grew by
18.56 percent and Multi Purpose Vehicles grew by 34.96 percent in this period.
Commercial Vehicles segment registered positive growth
at 22.32 percent during April-December 2009 as compared to the same period last
year. While Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCVs) grew at 9.73 percent,
Light Commercial Vehicles grew at 34.65 percent. In Medium & Heavy
Commercial Vehicles segment, passenger & goods carrier also grew at 11.66
and 9.30 percent respectively.
Three Wheelers
sales recorded a growth rate of 23.67 percent in April-December 2009. While
Passenger Carriers grew by 30.85 percent during April-December 2009, Goods
Carriers also grew marginally 1.26 percent.
Two Wheelers registered a growth of 21.68 percent
during April-December 2009. Mopeds, Scooters and Motorcycles grew by 30.77 percent,
17.87 percent and 22.31 percent respectively.
Exports
During April-December
2009, overall automobile exports registered a growth rate of 10.45 percent.
However, Commercial
Vehicles and Three Wheelers segments recorded growth of (-) 14.59 percent and
(-) 1.87 percent respectively during April-December 2009. Passenger Vehicles
and Two Wheelers segment grew by 30.12 percent and 7.15 percent respectively in
this period.
